Airlock Chambers

Engineered personnel and light-vehicle airlock systems for maintaining ventilation separation between underground pressure zones.

Airlock Chambers

Airlock chambers provide controlled passage between areas operating at different ventilation pressures without leaving a direct open path between the adjoining airways. Metron Engineering develops the chamber structure, door arrangement and interfaces as a coordinated package. Systems can be configured as two-door or multi-door arrangements to suit personnel, equipment or light-vehicle access. Chamber length, clear width, door size, interlocking philosophy, pressure duty and installation interfaces are developed around the mine layout and ventilation requirements.
